Urschel Laboratories: A 100th Anniversary Celebration for Employees, Families, Customers & Vendors

Urschel Laboratories needed entertainment for a milestone company celebration with a broad mix of guests. Dale’s role was to create an experience that could work across generations and different relationships to the company. After the event, a vice president said they would plan a future company picnic around his availability.

The Event Need

One Celebration With Several Different Audiences

Urschel Laboratories was celebrating its 100th year with an event that brought together employees, their families, customers, and vendors.

That meant the entertainment had to work for people of different ages and for guests who had very different relationships with the company.

Urschel needed an experience that could bring generations together without making the event feel divided between “adult entertainment” and “children’s entertainment.”

Dale’s Role

Create Something Families and Business Guests Could Enjoy Together

Dale interacted with guests throughout the celebration using detailed balloon artistry, humor, and conversation.

Children could be excited by the visual creations, while adults could enjoy the skill, comedy, and interaction happening around them. That allowed families and other guests to share the same moments rather than experiencing separate activities.

Dale’s role was not to take over the company celebration. It was to become part of the experience already happening around the people Urschel had invited.

The planner already had years of comparison.

Urschel vice president Karen Anselm said she had been planning the company picnic for ten years and thought previous balloon entertainment had been satisfactory. After seeing Dale at the 100-year celebration, she described the difference as far beyond what she had expected.

Value to the Celebration

One Experience Could Work Across the Guest List

A milestone company celebration can include employees, spouses, children, customers, and vendors all at the same time. Dale’s interaction gave those different groups something they could experience in the same event.

Crossed Generations

Children could enjoy the balloon artwork while adults responded to the skill, humor, and conversation around the same interaction.

Fit a Mixed Guest List

The entertainment could work with employees and families without feeling out of place around customers, vendors, and other business guests.

Supported the Celebration

Dale added interaction and shared moments without requiring the 100th anniversary event to reorganize around a separate performance.

The Result

The Company Wanted the Experience Back

Urschel vice president Karen Anselm said Dale exceeded her expectations, kept clients and families laughing, and stood out from the balloon entertainment she had used at previous company picnics.

Her strongest statement came when she said Urschel would plan a future company picnic around Dale’s availability.

The 100th anniversary celebration did more than earn a compliment — it made Dale’s availability a consideration for a future Urschel company picnic.
“I have been planning our company picnic for ten years and always thought we had a decent balloon artist. Little did I know Dale was beyond satisfactory! He was outstanding and exceeded my expectations by far! His balloons were terrific, and he kept the clients and families laughing. We will plan our picnic around his availability! He made our 100-year celebration an extraordinary event.”
