Orland Park Chamber of Commerce: Using Interactive Entertainment to Help Members Connect

The Orland Park Chamber of Commerce was celebrating the appointment of its first CEO and wanted the event to do more than recognize the milestone. The Chamber also wanted members to mingle and build camaraderie. Dale’s role was to create easy social openings that helped people stop, react, laugh, and start conversations.

The Event Need

Mark a Business Milestone Without Making the Room Feel Formal or Stiff

The Chamber was preparing to celebrate the appointment of its first CEO. Chamber President Ramzi Hassan wanted the event to recognize the milestone while also giving members a chance to socialize and build stronger connections with one another.

Ramzi had previously seen Dale interacting with guests during a Friday night at Fox’s Restaurant and recognized that the same kind of interaction could work in a business-social setting.

The Chamber needed entertainment that could support networking and camaraderie without interrupting the conversations people had come to have.

Dale’s Role

Give Business Guests an Easy Reason to Stop and Talk

Dale worked throughout the celebration creating detailed balloon pieces and interacting directly with Chamber members.

The balloon artwork gave people something immediate to notice and react to. Designs ranging from Sonic the Hedgehog to Minnie Mouse and Goofy became natural conversation starters as guests watched, laughed, and talked with the people around them.

The entertainment did not replace networking. It helped make networking easier by giving attendees a shared point of interest inside the room.

The Chamber President had already seen the interaction work in person.

Ramzi Hassan first encountered Dale at Fox’s Restaurant, where he saw how balloon artistry and conversation could draw people in. That firsthand experience led him to bring Dale into the Chamber celebration.

Value to the Event

The Entertainment Supported the Social Flow Instead of Competing With It

The Chamber already had a room full of business people. Dale’s role was to make it easier for those people to relax into the event and find natural reasons to interact.

Created Social Openings

The artwork gave guests a shared reason to stop, react, and begin conversations with people nearby.

Worked Around Networking

Guests could continue talking and moving through the event while the entertainment became part of the social atmosphere.

Fit the Business Audience

The interaction was lively and informal without requiring the event to become a stage show or children’s party.

The Result

A Business Celebration With More Natural Interaction

The Chamber’s original case study describes members enjoying the entertainment while using the lively atmosphere to connect with one another and strengthen professional relationships.

The balloon artistry served as an icebreaker inside the event, giving attendees something to talk about while the Chamber celebration continued around them.

The entertainment did not replace the networking. It gave Chamber members an easier way to begin it.
